Mahzooz, which happens to be the GCC’s weekly live draw, has so far given away more than Dh56 million in cash prize money since it was launched in November two years ago.
In an exclusive interview with Gulf News, Farid Samji, CEO of EWINGS-the managing operator of Mahzooz draws-revealed that 17 persons from the UAE, UK, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, China, and Bangladesh have been made millionaires so far. Over 125,000 winners have gone home with prizes. It has mixed nationalities, with over 197 coming into the draw every week. “Not only people from United Arab Emirates are participating, but there are also participants worldwide. So far, we have registered participants from 148 countries,” he added.
Message of hope
Its success, and indeed a remarkable one today, is the weekly draw of offering hope to people.
He’s also reminded that there was an awful lot of work that went into forming the idea. “I was there every step of the way right from the concept, hiring people, signing contracts, finalizing design, etc.
What does it take to win Mahzooz?
Simply buying a water bottle worth Dh35 gives you a chance to be entered into this draw, and the lucky draw may turn out to be in the millions.
What numbers are people picking the most?
The numbers are made by birth dates and most people select them. “If you want to be the only winner, choose from 32-49. Picking such numbers is not going to raise the chances for winning because the machine picks random numbers. But if you do win, count on winning it without splitting it with many other people.
Who are the participants?
Almost all Indians have bought Mahzooz tickets, Samji said. “That’s also because every one in four poor souls living here in the UAE are Indians. A little mix of nationalities exists buying tickets from Pakistan, Nepal, South Africa, and even more. But then mainly the ticket sales are for Indians and Filipinos.
