Dubai: One starts planning eid holidays 2025 uae for the year, but the next big public holiday in the UAE is Eid Al Adha. It is essential to know that the dates of such holidays for the Muslims like Eid Al Adha are determined by the sighting of the moon; thus, the definitive dates are announced not earlier than a few days with the Eid Moon-Sighting Committee of the UAE.
When is the eid holidays 2025 uae?
As per the astrological data released by the Emirates Astronomy Society on 4th April, Eid Al Adha is most probably going to be celebrated on Friday, 6th June 2025.
According to the Islamic lunar calendar, the crescent moon that marks the start of Dhu Al Hijjah, the final month, is supposed to appear on May 27. The day after that will probably be the first day of the month.
If so, this year, the Day of Arafah, which is observed on the 9th of Dhu Al Hijjah and marked by a fast, would occur on Thursday, June 5, and the celebration of Eid Al Adha would take place on Friday, 6 June.
Official Eid Al Adha Public Holidays in UAE
As per the UAE’s official public holiday calendar, Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha will be celebrated for a break beginning from the 9th until the 12th Dhu Al Hijjah (Islamic year 1445 A.H)- equivalent to a 4-day public holiday.

Like other Islamic occasions, the final dates of Eid will be dependent on official moon sightings. Eid would therefore shift to Friday 7 June instead if the crescent is not sighted on 27 May and the beginning of Dhu Al Hijjah is moved to 29 May instead. In such a case, the four-day public holiday will be from Saturday to Tuesday, which will not coincide with the usual UAE weekend. The holiday dates will however most probably be confirmed by the UAE authorities closer to time.
When Eid falls on a Friday, there will be an extended break for residents because Thursday and Friday will be Public Holidays and will allow everyone to have four days of nationwide break with the Saturday and Sunday weekend. The end result would expect a nationwide long weekend holiday.Nevertheless, the dates ultimately rely on the official moon sighting, much like all other Islamic holidays. If the rising crescent was not sighted on May 27, Dhu Al Hijjah would start on the 29th of May and the celebration of Eid Al Adha would occur on Saturday, June 7.Then the public holiday would be from Saturday to Tuesday but would not fall under the usual UAE weekend. However, the UAE authorities will presumably clarify the official vacation dates closer to the time.
